Youth arrested for eve-teasing in Kaliakair

Kaliakair (Gazipur) Correspondent: Police have arrested a youth from the Ulusra area of ​​Kaliakair Upazila on charges of eve-teasing. A mobile court sentenced him to two months in prison on Sunday (April 4th) at noon. Jewel Rana, 28, son of Dhayer Uddin of Arjunpur area of ​​Naogaon Dhamurhat police station was convicted. According to the mobile court, Rina Akhter, a garment worker, was eve-teased by Jewel Rana on Saturday (April 3) afternoon in the Ulusara area of ​​the Upazila.

Upon receiving the news, the police went to the spot and arrested Jewel Rana. The mobile court was headed by Executive Magistrate Adnan Chowdhury on Sunday afternoon. Jewel Rana was sentenced to two months imprisonment without parole as the case of eve-teasing was proved. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of the mobile court Adnan Chowdhury said the woman was sentenced to two months imprisonment without charge as it was proved that she was harassed at different times.
