Tensions also erupted in the Baitul Mukarram area over the reciprocal position of the two sides. There are also incidents like throwing pieces of bricks. However, the situation quickly came under control amid the tough stance of the police.

Leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League took position at Zero Point adjacent to the central office on Bangabandhu Avenue since morning. There are leaders and workers of different units of the party. However, the presence of the central leaders of the party could not be noticed. The leaders and workers present there are chanting slogans from time to time. Leaders and activists of Juba League have taken position in Shahbag.

They are also chanting anti-strike slogans in front of the National Museum. Awami League and its affiliates have been rehearsing on motorcycles at Malibagh area, Rail Crossing and Rampura Road since this morning. Some of them had sticks and hockey sticks in their hands.

Pro-government activists have also taken up positions in different areas of Old Dhaka, including Victoria Park. Their positions have been seen in Mirpur, Uttara and Tejgaon areas. Mamunur Rashid, an activist of the government party in Tejgaon and a student of the Polytechnic Institute, told Prothom Alo that they would not allow chaos in the name of strike. In reply, Mamun said, now Awami League is in power. They also have a responsibility to protect the lives and property of the people as government party workers. They are cooperating with the police administration.
