News Desk: With the installation of the 34th span, 5 thousand one hundred meters or 5.1 kilometers of Padma bridge is visible. At 10:04 a.m. on Saturday, a 150-meter-long gray span called 'Two-A' was placed on pillars 6 and 7 on the Mawa side of the bridge.

Padma Bridge Executive Engineer (Main Bridge) Dewan. Abdul Quader said the 34th span, named 'Two-A', was taken by crane to Pillars 6 and 7 from the construction yard on Friday. It was placed on the pillar at 10:04 am on Sunday.

He added that there was only 6.14 km of the bridge and only 1.14 km remained. There are 6 spans left. Work is being expedited with a plan to complete it within the current year.

It is further learned from the Padma Bridge concerned that some possible dates have been fixed for placing the other spans on certain pillars. The 35th span will be installed on the 2nd and 3rd pillars on October 30, including the 36th span on November 4 and all the spans will be installed by December 10 if the weather and overall conditions are favorable.

Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. The Padma Bridge became visible on September 30, 2016 with the installation of the first span on poles 36 and 37.

6.15 km long Padma bridge will be constructed by placing 41 spans of 150 m length on 42 pillars. All of these pillars have been visible.

China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working on the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation, another company in the country, is working on river management. Abdul Momen Limited of Bangladesh has constructed two connecting roads and infrastructure.

The main shape of this multipurpose bridge will be two-storied. The structure of the bridge is being constructed with concrete and steel. After the completion of the construction work of the Padma Bridge, it may be opened for traffic in 2021.
