Mongla Correspondent: The strike of shipping workers at Mongla port continued on Thursday. As a result of the strike called by the Bangladesh Shipping Workers Federation in the 11-point demand, the port of Mongla has become unusable.
Due to the complete closure of the cargo and transportation of all the merchant ships in the outer bar and animal channel of the port, the port related traders including the foreign ship owners have suffered a huge financial loss. Chowdhury Ashiqul Alam, central general secretary of the Bangladesh Shipping Workers Federation, said they were continuing their strike to demand their release.
However, so far they have not received any proposal or response from the government or the owner. However, he also said that there is a discussion going on about the demand.
