Coronavirus: India breaks record again, 1.5 million identified in one day

International Desk: India has been recording one corona infection after another for the past few days. This time, more than one and a half lakh people have been infected with a corona in a single day in the country. This situation is a source of considerable concern and apprehension.

The country's health ministry said on Sunday that the number of new cases had risen to 152,069 in the past 24 hours. On the other hand, 639 people died in one day. So far, the United States has been at the forefront of corona infections and deaths. India ranks third in this list. According to the World Meter, the number of corona cases in the country so far is 1 crore 33 lakh 57 thousand 605. So far 1 lakh 79 thousand 305 people have died of corona infection in the country.

However, 1 crore 20 lakh 71 thousand 443 people have already recovered. At present, the number of active patients in the country is 11 lakh 8 thousand 57. Besides, 6,944 people are in critical condition. Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala are the top corona infections in India.

These five states account for 82.23 percent of the country's total infections. The country has recorded a spate of infections over the past few days. More than one lakh infections have been noticed for five consecutive days. One day before the infection was 1 lakh 45 thousand 374. Infections have increased by 5 percent in one day. Authorities have imposed night curfews in many states as the infection continues to grow. Maharashtra accounts for 51.23 percent of all infections in the country.

The state's chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray, has hinted that a lockdown may be imposed there. Meanwhile, the Delhi government Saturday issued new restrictions. Public gatherings have been banned there. There are also restrictions on people's participation in events such as restaurants, theaters, public transport, weddings, and funerals.
